April 2, 2011toApril 11, 2011

The second workshop in the 2011 build schedule.

We will be teaching a 10 day cob cordwood workshop detailing how to build a free standing exterior shower and bath house utilizing this method of natural building.

Cordwood masonry’s origins are unknown. There are some homes in Canada that are between 100 and 200 years old. In the United States, there’s a house at the Old World Wisconsin Museum that was built in the 1884, complete with a cordwood chicken coop. There are also known examples over 100 years old in Sweden.

This cordwood structure will have a rubble stem wall, earthen floors, rocket water heated water for showering as well as radiant floor heating and a greywater system to use the water out in the garden directly!! It will also have rainwater catchment from its metal roof over pine poles and solar powered lighting!!

As usual theres plenty of prime camping spots and possibly a bed in a pallet house.

Hot showers and composting toilets provided as well as running water in our outdoor sinks.

Vegetarian meals provided throughout.

Internet will be provided.

Tuition is $400 per person or $700 per couple.

Children are free but a fee of $100 per child is required for meals for the 10 days and is due in full on the first day of the workshop in cash, a receipt is available if required.
