This workshop is a good way to introduce yourself to the concepts and feel of natural materials. Weekend workshops will overlap with our 8-day immersion courses. You will join the immersion students for the opening weekend, in which we will focus on one day of cob, and one of strawbale.
Just like our intensives, this workshop will be very hands-on. We will cover:
- cob mixing, with human power!
- building with cob – applying, trimming, sculpting
- strawbale installation and concepts
- discussion on thermal properties of different natural materials
- photo presentation covering a variety of natural building ideas
Your hard work will be rewarded with three delicious, wholesome meals per day. We source local, organic produce when possible, and emphasize whole, real foods. Mostly our cook will make vegetarian meals, with an occasional meat option. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated!
There is a hot shower available, and compost toilet facilities. Tent sites are available at no extra cost, and there are several earthen, one-room sleeping cottages available for rent ($10/night).
