What will you learn?

Building with cob, and other earthen materials, is still one of the most popural and versatile building methods worldwide. During this workshop you will

  • discover the joys finding and mixing your own building materials and turning them into strong, structural walls.
  • learn how to build niches and arches, itegrate art and bottles into the wall and how to protect them from the rain.
  • learn how to make and apply earthen plasters to any surface area, including drywall!

If you are curious about how earthen building can fit into your life, this is the workshop for you. Plenty of time will be dedicated to answering your questions about possibilities, code, design and cost.

    The workshop site!
This workshop takes place at Camp Galilee, a beautiful summer camp on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Delicious meals, sunny weather and a georgeous lake will make your experience about so much more than just building with cob. Kayaks and pedal boards are available during the afternoon breaks. Students will stay in indoor (shared) cabins with toilets and hot showers.

The camp is about an hour drive from Reno and a 2 hour drive from Sacramento. If necessary we will try to help you coordinate rides with other students.
