Join us for a day of learning, mixing materials and seeing all the things you can do with earthen construction. This one-day class is a perfect introduction to building with earth for those who are considering building a house or cottage, for those thinking about using these techniques to remodel their existing home, or for building an oven or a courtyard wall.
You’ll get hands-on experience in mixing cob and building a section of a wall with it. We will also demo how to install an earthen floor or how to apply an earthen plaster on just about every possible material, from straw bales to drywall. The light straw-clay technique will show you how to remodel an existing home (or garage) and also will give you some tools to start a new construction project that can be code approved.
There will be plenty of time for looking at cob buildings at the site and answering your questions. We will end in the evening with firing up our earthen oven up to 900 degrees(!) and eating some of the best pizzas. They only take 40 seconds to cook!
