The emphasis will be on hands-on learning as we mix cob and earthen plaster, and provide you with the skills to build an oven in your own backyard. Class will meet in two locations (10 miles apart): at the Dome Gathering Space for building a new oven, and at Angelic Organics Learning Center for baking in a completed oven.  Participants will be invited to help with work sessions on the oven foundation prior to the class.</p>

Natural building workshop<br />
October 10-17 2010<br />
Ecoart and the Ecological Institute of Greece invite you at Elpidochori village in Argolis, to experience a creative as well as educating week of community living focused on building using natural material. During this intensive workshop, we will focus on constructions made of straw bale and cob (mixture of sand, clay and straw) as well as green roofs. Covering topics such as design, foundation, drainage, masonry techniques, door and window installation, green roof construction e.t.c., and we will familiarize with the fundamental principles of natural building, while acquiring the basic skills required for anyone to start his own building.<br />
The workshop instructors will be Vassilis Tsolakidis (straw bale, green roof) and Alexis Christakis (cob).</p>

<p>We will go over foundation possibilities, how to find, fasten and secure your pallet structure, building door and window frames as well as deciding the type of roof that best suits your needs.</p>
<p>once the structure is up we will then get into the straw-clay infill portion of this build.</p>
<p>We will be applying a simple earthen plaster to the exterior and interior of this Tiny styled home.</p>
<p>Bring clothes that you don&#8217;t mind getting muddy, and some type of rubberized gloves.</p>
<p>We will serve lunch on both days and it will consist of vegan friendly foods.</p>
<p>Please bring your own lunches or we will be serving an organic lunch for a $20 donation. Cash accepted.<br />
