The hands-on portion of this class will focus on the basics of evaluating soils, making bricks, and stacking them to make different structural elements of an earthen wall. The discussion portion will focus on low-tech seismic design considerations for earthen building, and will include an introduction to various earthen building standards including the recently published ASTM standard.
