David here once again from New Jura Natural Building, we are announcing our
10 day owner builder workshop at my land in Hempstead, Texas.
We will be working on a hybrid cob/earthship home, this will be utilizing
both building techniques into one sustainable home.
During the workshop we will teach you the fundamentals of building with cob
from foundation to finish, when you leave you will know everything needed to
build your own cob home. Classes will be held daily with a break day on the
6th of Oct. at which time we will be visiting The Blackwood Educational Land
Institute (http://www.blackwoodland.org/). This is an intensive build so be
prepared to get in and get dirty.
We will be serving vegan friendly foods throughout the workshop, (If you
are a vegan or RAW foods chef and interested in work trading for this
workshop please contact me on email, The more the merrier).
Accommodations during the workshop will be your own camping or RV or you
are more than welcome to purchase a hotel room from nearby town of
Hempstead. We are an off grid community and will not be able to offer power
to your tent or RV.
We ask that you bring a new 6′x8′ tarpaulin to mix cob on so everyone will
be able to experience mixing. Bring clothes that you don’t mind trashing
as cob mixing will do that.
Hot showers will be provided and composting toilets are also provided.
There is the opportunity for a couple of persons to stay on as live in
hands if there is interest and you can speak to me more about that through
email.
Early arrival is suggested to assure a nice spot close to the cob site, I
would suggest a day before the workshop begins.
I will be offering work trade for this workshop and will limit 5 spots for
this and you can email me about this also.
This is private land and maps will only be given to confirmed
participants.
I have made provisions for a work-trade in place of fee and you can find
more information here -
http://newjurabuilding.info/ then click the work-trade tab
The fee for this event is $500 per Adult with discounts for groups and
early registration.
Children are free to attend and will have activities such as cob
sculpturing and adobe brick making and natural earth painting with
pigments.
Paypal payments can be made to Dude@newjurabuilding.info
We are asking for a minimum of $200 as a deposit on or before Sept. 10th
and the remainder due by the first day of the workshop.
