Straw-Clay + Earthen Plasters

This course will teach you the technique of using straw and clay for an insulative and somewhat structural wall infill, as well as the basics of mixing and applying earthen plasters. We will also cover Earthen Plastering techniques. The straw-clay technique was recently deemed allowable for permitted structures in Portland. We will discuss all the basics of building design, the use of earthen materials in construction, and how to use straw-clay in permitted and non-permitted structures.
