This course will focus on building an oven and you will leave with the skills to build one of your own! And as with our longer eight day course, we will have a lot of fun and eat a lot of great food! The routine will be similar as well!

Thursday night we will rendezvous at the site and set up our tents. Grab some food, a beer if you like,
and start getting to know one another. Friday morning we will kick off the fun and spend the next few days discussing all things cob while actually building ourselves an oven. Classroom instruction, practical application, fun, and food will be how we spend our short time together. Even though this is a short course you will walk away with a lot of applicable knowledge that we hope you take home and begin
applying immediately!

Join us June 3rd, 4th and 5th as we build a covered cob oven along with built in benches!!

This is going to be a grand oven build and the more people we can get to help the better the outcome of getting it built in time!!

Itinerary:

On Friday we will build the base of the oven and benches using urbanite, rock and brick from local sources and a mix of Portland cement and local sand to mortar it together.
On Saturday we will build the oven and bench’s, we will also be having a pot luck lunch so bring what you like to eat, there will be plenty of cold water to drink!!
On Sunday we will be applying earthen plasters to the oven and applying any finishing touches needed.
Cob Ovens can cook anything that a conventional oven can this includes:

Cookies
Cakes
Pizzas
Breads
Pot Roasts
Baked Chickens
Muffins
Roasted Turkey
Veggie Souffle
Shepards Pies (meat and meatless)
Casseroles
You name it and it more than likely can be cooked in an earthen oven!

Tuition for this work shop is as follows:

$70 per person or $100 per couple (this covers all 3 days), kids under 16 are free and there will be activities for them to participate in!! We can have cob clay sculpting, adobe brick making (free to take home after) and clay face painting!!
