DESCRIPTION:Located on the Olympic Penninsula in Washington state\, Placecraft Collective is hosting a four part workshop series. They will be teaching : \n1. Base Layer Earthen Plaster | May 14th-17th \n2. Finish Layer Earthen Plaster | June 13th – 14th \n3. Base Layer Earthen Floors | July 4th – 5th \n4. Finish Layer Earthen Floors | July 18th – 19th \nIf you have ever wanted your home to be made with non toxic\, beautiful\, local\, sustainable materials\, these workshops are for you! \n  \nWe will be hosting 4 workshops\, covering the entire process of natural finishing. No more toxic paints or lacquers. \nReserve your spot now for this rare opportunity to learn along side seasoned professional plasters and earthen builders. \nWe will be working together to plaster the interior and exterior\, along with laying and finishing an earthen floor\, for a monolithic cob house\, ensuring that you get the hands on expiernece from seasoned professionals so that you can go home confident in your abilities to create your natural non toxic home! \n  \nWorkshops include: \nHow to process\, mix\, and apply natural plasters \n-Using key\, creating base coats and discussion of finish layers \n-Plastering on different materials \n-Tools and techniques for different finished textures \n-lots of hands on experience working with plaster! \n– What separates finish plaster from base plaster? \n-Sourcing local materials from the land around you \n-How to process\, mix\, and apply natural finish plasters \n-Using pigments to create different colors \n-lots of hands on experience! \n-soil assessment \n-drainage \n-vapor barriers \n-gravel \n-insulation \n-mixing\, consistency and application of clay \n-Plastering on different materials \n-finishing techniques \n-disussion of oiling and waxing \n-application techniques for different textures \n-ingredients\, recipes\, and trouble shooting \n-How to achieve your desired final design \nTuition for the entire workshop series is $1000 \nTuition includes lunch and dinner for all four days\, made from local organic produce and grass fed organic meat. \n\nAMENITIES \nWe are located 4 minutes away from the Quilcene Village Store and several farmstands that have organic produce\, good quality meat\, yummy snacks\, and hot food ready to go. \nLodging in the town of Quilcene is a 5 minute drive. \nThere is a beautiful swimming hole in the Quilcene river 6 minutes away\, and a salt water tidal beach with oysters and clams 8 minutes away. \nOn site rustic camping is included in tuition.
