SUMMARY:Humboldt Eco-Cob Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Beat the summer heat and join us in beautiful Carlotta\, California for a 3-day natural building workshop for $450\, followed by an optional 10-day permaculture summer camp. Sign up for the natural building and stay for the permaculture camp for as many days as you like for an affordable donation that fits your budget. \nWe will be learning the fundamental skills of natural building as we build a garden bench in the palletable cobin method that is translatable into a shed or small living structure. Then we will be working on the 12 permaculture principles in application and exercises. \nWe will start our 3-day cob workshop by constructing a rubble trench foundation and stacking a stem wall. We’ll continue hand sculpting a garden wall with cob\, including built in benches and candle cubbies for the meditation garden. Then we will take a day off to enjoy the river and explore the redwood forest before we start our permaculture camp. \nHumboldt Experience Farmstay is our venue\, providing camping spots plus 3 vegetarian meals daily.  Our host is known for their locally grown delicious nutrient dense food.  Please bring camping gear and comforts plus any special dietary needs. \nArrive on June 30\, 2023 for the cob workshop and depart on July 4th unless you decide to stay for the permaculture summer camp. \nIf you are driving\, follow directions to Carlotta\, CA and once you register\, you will receive detailed directions to the venue. \nIf you are flying\, book your ticket to Arcata Eureka Airport in McKinleyville California. Transportation to and from the site will be provided once on June 30th\, once on July 4th and once on July 16th for $100 per van load. Cost is split between riders. DESCRIPTION:Join us as we continue building our 6′ x 6′ Cob Pallet Shed that we started in February. It needs shingles on the roof\, paint on the fascia boards\, a door\, interior shelves\, cob over the straw and pallets plus plaster on both interior and exterior walls. It may be possible to pour the floor but that is TBD. Furthermore\, if we have enough time and students\, we may build benches on the outer east and west walls. For the benches we need to dig a rubble trench\, stem wall and sculpt the bench out of cob mass.
