In this expanded version of our most popular program ever\, we’ll take the ground from under your feet and turn it into a versatile medium to sculpt a structure. You will learn construction of cob walls\, framing in of doors and windows\, artistic detail and some finish work too.We will have daily discussion time for roofing options\, foundations\, passive solar\, siting\, design\, soils and whatever else we can share.  In addition\, we will introduce you to an array of other natural building wall systems and show you how to merge these natural building materials to remodel\, insulate\, and add to existing wood framed buildings. Earthen plasters will also be discussed and demonstrated. (Please note that the foundation will be completed prior to the workshop. However we will learn the components of it’s construction. If you would like to volunteer to help with the building of the foundation prior to the workshop\, please let us know.) \nDON’T MISS THIS ONE\, FOLKS!!!! This will be an incredible experience for those desiring too add  many techniques to your natural building skillset. You’ll leave confident enough to build a cob structure of your own or to naturally renovate an existing stick frame building! \n  \nTHE TEAM: \n  \nAllie Maggio was a lead instructor and primary teaching partner of Ianto Evans at Cob Cottage Company\, where he lived with his family for several years. And more recently has been teaching and contract building in Oregon and the Southwest US. \n  \nThis is a family affair\,so Allie’s wife and daughter\, Chloe and Annina Maggio are the mother daughter cooking duo\, who will make sure you are well fed three meals a day from local organic farms. \n  \nAnd there will be other TBA team members to help on the worksite and in the kitchen. In my opinion there are not near enough cob and natural building opportunities being offered out there-we need more like YOU to come learn and pay the knowledge forward for all!!! Hope you can make it! \n  \nTHE PROJECT: \n  \nThe workshop will be held at the Maggio family home on 16 acres nestled between the coast range and the fertile Willamette valley. We are located 25 minutes from downtown Eugene Oregon and about 15 minutes to the smaller towns of Junction City and Veneta. On the property there are 2 existing cob structures that we have built\, a chicken coop and a family home\, and a conventionally built house\, that will provide the opportunity for learning natural building techniques like slip straw insulation\, plastering on drywall\, etc. to use on the home you already live in. \nThe main building projects will be a cob bath house\, a balecob pantry\, and natural building methods on a conventionally built house. \nThis is not just an opportunity to learn cob and natural building but to co-create something even greater for the future good of those who come next. Your participation in this project will continue to inspire others for years. You are not coming to just learn ABOUT cob and natural building\, but learning FROM cob and natural building. We hope you can join us.
