Cob Oven Build in Corbett, Oregon

Earthen ovens have been used by humans for thousands of years to cook everything from pizza to roasted meat and vegetables. They offer a beautiful and functional addition to any home or backyard. In this introductory natural building course, students will learn to source and mix local clay soil to construct and plaster a large cob oven over a dry stacked stone foundation. We will explore the many benefits of building with earth and gain an intimate understanding of the strength and sculptural freedom cob offers as a material.
