India 10-Day Natural Building Workshop

Join us at Prakruthivanam Organic Farm & Community in Southern India in January for a comprehensive Versaterra 10-day natural building workshop. The project will focus on an outdoor classroom and a cob oven.

We’re keeping the cost low for this one: only $850 including lodging and food!

We’re excited to build with Prakruthivanam because they’re an educational hub for sustainable living and want to employ natural materials for their future housing and guest cottages. They went organic in 2009, started native reforestation efforts on sections of their land several years ago, practice water and soil conservation, teach and host adults and school groups, and, after our class, will be able to share how to build with earth. India is far away from us but like any of our classes, we weigh the hope of planting the seeds of natural building with our impact from travel.

In this hands-on workshop we’ll cover all the essentials of natural building from cob to slipstraw to plastering and sculpting. We’ll also delve into principles of design (like passive solar) and appropriate technologies (like root cellars and alternative septic systems). Students will leave with the knowledge and skills to start their own projects. Go here for all the details

We’ll be working with a lot of community members from the farm as well as local Indians which will provide a unique cross-cultural experience for all involved.
