Learn to Build with Cob

Help build a cob structure that will serve as an outdoor sustainable education area that also provides a windbreak for compost. This project is part of a campus wide permaculture demonstration site, at the University of California Riverside in Palm Desert, CA. In this three day workshop, you will learn to build a stem wall with urban crete, mix cob and create a hand sculpted structure with clay, sand and straw. The photo shows a model of the structure we will be building in March. It has seating, work tops and back rest that will make it comfortable as it blocks the wind. The structure will be 200 square feet, 40′ long, 5′ wide and 4-5′ tall. We look forward to seeing you!
