Cob Oven Workshop
July 11, 2026 ∞ 10:00 am - July 12, 2026 ∞ 4:00 pm

Join us at this beautiful home and organic flower farm just outside of Boston for a weekend building a cob oven! Using locally dug Boston Blue Clay, sand, and straw, we’ll sculpt a timeless earthen oven between the trees.
Throughout this hands-on weekend, workshoppers will learn about how the soil under our feet can be used to make strong, fire-resistant, and near-indestructible structures. This mix of clay, sand, and fiber known as cob has been used for millennia across the world to build not just ovens, but buildings, towers, and now, modern homes.
No matter what level of experience you have, you’ll be welcomed here to jump in the mud and discover a different sort of building. Here, we rediscover that building the means of meeting our needs can not only be sustainable, but fun, creative, healthy, and social.
Lunch is provided both days, made with fresh produce from the land. There will be plenty of time for Q&A on all things natural building, and you’ll have a chance to make a small cob souvenir to take home!
Lodging and Transportation: Lodging is not included. Folks are encouraged to take advantage of the Lincoln MBTA Commuter Rail stop a few miles away, to carpool, to walk, and to bike! Registrants will be added to a shared spreadsheet, to offer or request transportation and lodging.
Plus, Walden Pond is just a few miles away—perfect for a refreshing post-workshop dip!
Tickets are sliding scale $250-450.
